Paradygm History

John Zatwarnicki (Paradygm - Drums) was already an accomplished drummer prior to becoming a founding member of Blind Curve, playing drums for a number of years in popular New York area cover bands. Frustrated with the creative limitations inherent to playing in a cover situation, John decided to form an original band to showcase and create original music.

While the wheels were in motion to complete Blind Curve’s line-up, John was introduced to Al Aquino (Paradygm – Guitars), also an accomplished musician. Blind Curve released its self-titled debut in the summer of 1999 with Trilogy Records. Blind Curve was frequently hailed by critics as “devoted students of both 70’s classic rock and early 90’s grunge,” “skilled musicians” and creators of “progressive epochs and modern rock/pop saga songs." Notably, their eclectic song writing and style of playing was also described as reminiscent of bands such as Alice in Chains, Queensryche, Rush, Pink Floyd and Pearl Jam. Some of the bands highlights included playing the Finals of the 2000 L.I. Music Festival and becoming finalists in the Sennheisser Evolution Band Contest for the World’s Fair in Germany, 2001.

Blind Curve had gone through numerous changes in its line-up; and while the band went on hiatus, John & Al continued their musical collaboration, writing original, honest, no-frills songs that went outside of the bounds of contemporary rock tunes. No formulas, no “cookie-cutter” hooks or parameters – just well thought out songs with an edge.

In just a few short months, they had created the framework for what has become their new project – Paradygm.

Paradygm is about the music first. It is about writing the types of songs and music that they truly believe in and hopefully you will too.
